Joule in the Crown

Joule in the Crown

My first published article was entitled ‘Joule in the Crown’, and it was an investigation into the fuel flow sensors of the 2019 F1 season. During the 2019 season the Ferrari engines were remarkably efficient in a straight line and won at power dominated tracks such as Spa and Monza. This lead to speculation that they had found a loophole in the FIA technical regulations regarding fuel flow.

This article gives an insight into how Ferrari might have done this, and my own speculation on their engineering behind it.
